Faith Lessons - November

So excited to be starting a new faith lesson from the Funshine Express. The planned lessons always come with amazing songs fantastic activities and art that is pre made which means no setup no last minute trip to the store I have more than enough for everybody.
Today we started our lesson by pulling our story treasure out of Goody.
We talked about Gods plan for each of us

We played with baby dolls and used a variety of baskets.

We sang a song I got from the Fun Shine Curriculm

We then made the floating Moses craft again I love that everything comes in a bag.

This is one of my favorite crafts so far.
We first colored both the sides of the paper
The curriculm also suggested painting which I would have preferred but we started later than I expected and I didn't have enough to time to wait for paint to time.
We then cut the grass
Each child colored and cut out their Baby Moses, then wrapped them in blankets and put them in a basket. During art they continued to sing the Baby Moses song from the lesson plan.
They turned out great
Today we read the story the Tiny Baby that came in our November Faith Lesson
Ready to get my day started prep for art ✔done, all I had to do is pull it out of the bag.

This activity was perfect right before Thanksgiving.
Each child traced the Bible verse
Then cut the dotted lines and put it back in order.
What a great verse for this month. We give thanks to you, O God. We talked about all the things the Lord has blessed us with, then wrote what we were thankful for on the pieces provided.

Funshine Express

I am so excited It's been 3 years since I last used
Funshine faith lessons and I can't wait to start. I've already incorporated it into my classroom curriculm for this month. I will be posting our activities all month long and let you know how it goes.

This morning to  help introduce our faith lesson for the month I brought out the counting sheep activity suggested in page 2 of this months faith lesson

My class had a great time using the tweezers and counting out cotton balls and putting them on the corresponding number.
To introduce our story Goody came to share with us what was in his heart.
My super helper got to pull out out his heart to see what Goody wanted to talk about
He pulled out the Story Treasure  for this months faith lesson  then went over the story of The Lost Sheep.

Art: Jesus' Little Lambs

Using the pieces that came with our curriculm we put together our Lambs. The white festoons were very messy and when I tried to sweep them up the floated all over the place( but the children loved it).

The finished product. I can't wait to hang them on the bulletin board.

Today we continued our faith lesson. I talked to the class about sheep. How do sheep find food...how do they find water... How do they keep safe. We then talked about God and how we can go to Him for anything we need. He is our Shepard!
We read the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abendigo  we talked about how because they trusted in God he turned a scary situation into good. God is with us always just as a Shepard is with his sheep.

In the faith lesson they gave us this http://easyscienceforkids.com/pictures-of-sheep-for-kids-video/ for a video on sheep

For art we made sheep masks I love that everything comes in a bag alI have to do is pull it out no cutting or prepping, It's all done for me.

They wrote there names then glued a black pompon in the center of the mask
We pulled apart cotton balls and glued them on the mask
We then glued on the ears
After they dry we will add the strings and use them for the Sheep Sound activity that came with the lesson.

This week we continued our Funshine express faith lesson with this great Shepard puppet craft.
Each child colored then cut our the shepherd patten
They then glued them to the paper bag and glued on a brown pipe cleaner for the Shepard staff.

When they were done with art they were able to lay on our sheep rug and read stories

Sheep Sounds
I used this idea from the faith lesson and had the class move around the room making sheep sound quietly then loudly.
We then went around the room singing Where did it go from page 7 of the curriculm.

Enrichment
Using the enrichment  activity they lead the Shepard to the lost sheep

Today we did the last activity for our October Faith Lesson.

I did do a bit altering on this one instead of finger painting I painted with tooth brushes. This gave the paper a grassy look. This art activity was also used later in a language and movement activity that was in the curriculm.

Each child painted a piece of paper with a green toothbrush.

After they added a variety of animal stickers to their paper and one sheep sticker
When their paper was dry they taped on tiny squares over each sticker.

They then took turns singing this song looking for their friends sheep

Where's the sheep? Where's the sheep? Who can find the missing sheep? Oh, look here and there and every where around, until the missing sheep is found.- Funshine Express

Story Time

Every month we do Roataions where we take different classes to to a specific class. One teacher does science, cooking, exercise, music and Story Telling. I am in charge of story time. I try to make it interactive and fun, different then a story time they may have in their classroom. This month I choose the book 5 Little Pumkins by James Dean
After reading the story I re-did it via flannel board sinning to the tune of Raffies 5 Little Pumpkins.
I then picked 5 kids each giving them a pumpkin and a line in the story to say and acting out the story
These pumpkins are perfect for the kids to hold the are plastic and store great in my harvest box.

Every month we will be making a calendar to go with the story of the month. I used die cuts from the school district and let them glue on the pieces plus the words to go along with it.
Using the templates I got from https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Traceable-Blank-Monthly-Calendar-Templates-2015-2016-873652 I added in school dates to remember.
We had a few extra minute before we had to rotate back to our own classes where I played pumkin songs while the rotated between the art table, pumkin sensory box and the reading station.

A new Home for Abraham

Today the entire school got together for chapel as I told the story of Abraham

I made  this display from an idea I got from here to share the 3 promises God gave to Abraham.
For this one I used
Construction paper
3 cut out
Star stickers
Sand
Construction paper tent
Baby boy pattern

I told the story in my own words but then used this display to sum up the story. We talked about how God made us and how he has promises and blessing for our lives.
We then went over our Monthly Bible Verse
I will praise God because I am wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14

I gave each child a star sticker and told them that every time the see the sticker it's a reminder that the are wonderfully made and that God has promises and blessing for their lives.

Music and Movement

We dance to Father Abraham

This got my little ones up and movin around.

Art: for art we cut out this tent pattern then glued it to a piece of paper, inside the door of the tent I encouraged them to draw Abraham and Sarah.
I think next time I would glue it on blue paper and add star stickers.
